In the Valley . . .

Go to "Valley of the Poets" on Bing.com and see Merrimack Valley contributions to the cultural and literary history of America. The Wiki entry should be on page 1 of Bing.

You may be astounded at the quality of local poets through the centuries, beginning with Anne.

Welcome to North Andover, epicenter of the Valley of the Poets!

Did you ever hear of Anne Dudley Bradstreet? Why she is remembered by some?

In 1612, Anne Dudley was born in Lincolnshire, England. In 1630, she landed in Salem, Mass.

Her amazing journey in the New World had begun. With her parents, her husband plus Gov. Winthrop and others, she became a Founding Mother of two cities (Boston and Newe Towne, now Cambridge) and a town (North Andover) in our Commonwealth.

Along with her travels, she wrote beautiful poetry and mothered eight beautiful children.

She lived the last half of her life in North Andover, founded in 1646 as Andover Parish. She died in 1672 and is most likely buried in The Old Burying Ground on Academy Road.

Most folks do not know her story. That is about to change, forever . . .
